May 31 @ 8:00 am - September 6 @ 5:00 pm
Rochester Rotary invites you to participate in a Community Campout to help raise awareness of Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp, a summer experience that annually meets the needs of 2,500+ children and young adults with disabilities, and their families. Sunshine Camp gives these children a place where they don’t have to worry about wheelchairs or people thinking they are different — a place where they can just be kids, with no barriers to fun. And it gives families a much-needed respite from providing 24/7 care.
Currently, there is a waiting list for the camp. By raising more awareness, we can serve more children in our community.
How You Can Participate
1) Go camping between Memorial Day (May 31) and Labor Day (September 6). You can visit a campground overnight or pitch a tent in your backyard. Hold a day camp inside or outside of your house. How you camp is up to you.
2) Take a picture. Document your campout and post the photo on Facebook or Instagram.
•Include some depiction of the sun in your photo to help spread the sunshine of the Sunshine Camp.
•Include the #SunshineCampout hashtag in your post, and tag @rotarysunshinecamp on Facebook and Instagram.
3) Make a pledge to support the camp. Pledge $25 to Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp (Donations accepted
4) Challenge others. Ask family members, friends, and colleagues to camp out as well.
Everyone posting an image will be entered into a random drawing for one of two giveaways: 1) a $100 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card or 2) a day of fun at Sunshine Camp for up to 50 people. Note: No pledge or donation is necessary to be entered in the drawing; the two winners will be chosen at random.
