DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to share that the August 2024 issue of Rotary Magazine features an inspiring article about the Peace Pole project championed by Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick. This global initiative beautifully reflects our shared commitment to building a culture of peace and understanding across borders. \nA Peace Pole is more than just a monument—it’s a beacon of hope\, displaying the heartfelt message\, “May Peace Prevail on Earth\,” in the language of its host country and several others. Our District’s Peace Pole will proudly feature this message in 14 different languages\, each representing and honoring our 14 inbound Youth Exchange students for Rotary Year 2024-25. Each language and flag is a tribute to the rich diversity and unity that Rotary stands for. \nWith over 250\,000 Peace Poles standing as monuments to peace in every country around the globe\, each one serves as an affirmation of our commitment to harmony\, understanding\, and friendship among all people. The message\, authored by Masahisa Goi of Japan after the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki\, has become a universal call for peace. \nYou’re Invited! \nThe Rochester Rotary International Service Committee is excited to bring this vision to life in our own community! DESCRIPTION:Erica Rogers will be speaking with our club on Tuesday\, June 17th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. \nCartwheels to Quicksand – lessons as a CEO \nErica will unpack the story of how she became the only cartwheeling CEO ever to land on the NASDAQ and how quicksand unveils your life lessons.  \n  \nWith over three decades in the Medtech sector\, Erica has had the privilege of serving as a CEO and serial entrepreneur\, dedicating her efforts to innovation and leadership. Steering Silk Road Medical for eleven years\, she successfully navigated the company from early venture funding to a triumphant IPO in 2019\, overseeing its expansion from a 25-person startup to a flourishing 500-employee organization. In addition to founding two companies\, she played a crucial role in launching the first non-profit pharmaceutical company in women’s health. She has been humbled to receive recognitions such as 2023 MedTech MVP\, Forbes’s “50 over 50” Women\, Silicon Valley’s “Power 100” top CEOs\, and EY Entrepreneur of the Year\, and is a named inventor on more than 25 US patents in medical technologies. Erica now serves on four for-profit Boards\, and one non-profit Board and is Chair person or member of Compensation Committee\, Commercial Committee and Investment Committee.
