SUMMARY:Tuesday Luncheon Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Veterans’ Day Luncheon at The Carlson with guest speaker Jack Foy. \nJack Foy of Greece represents less than one percent of veterans who served in World War II who are still alive to share their experiences from the largest and deadliest conflict in human history. \nJack was born in 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foy of Charlotte and was one of ten children in his family. He attended Holy Cross School and graduated from Charlotte High School in 1943. His dad was a plumber and owned his own residential plumbing business. His mom was a busy homemaker raising ten children. \nAt 17\, Jack was finishing high school and was accepted into the military’s Army Specialized Training Program at Cornell University. He began his classes in September 1943 during the peak of World War II. The plan was to attend Cornell for two years and receive a degree in engineering as well as a commission into the Army Corps of Engineers. Later that semester\, a need for more combat troops kept Foy from reaching his goal. “We were losing a lot of men to the causalities of the war\, and there was a need for more infantrymen with high IQs\, so they pulled us. I was chosen to go over with about 200 young men in my infantry company. \nRead more here \n  \nTo provide our venue with an accurate count\, we ask that you please sign up if you are planning on attending this luncheon. You will not get charged if you are no longer able to attend.

SUMMARY:Tuesday Luncheon Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Carlson to hear from guest speaker Wade Cook\, Executive Director of AIM Photonics. \nAIM Photonics At the 10 Year Mark \nPhotonic integrated circuits are found throughout every AI data center and in your phones and tablets. In the near future\, they will be found in quantum sensors\, portable atomic clocks\, and ultra-sensitive\, low-cost medical diagnostic devices. This past June\, the Institute marked its 10-year anniversary as a non-profit public-private partnership. This presentation will touch on an amazing technology\, on what that tech means for daily life (and for some major social trends)\, and on the Institute’s role in growing the US photonic industry. \nTo provide our venue with an accurate count\, we ask that you please sign up if you are planning on attending this luncheon. SUMMARY:Tuesday Luncheon Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Carlson to hear from guest speaker Rochester Rotarian\, Angelica Pilato. \nDr. Angelica Pilato\, “Angel”\, served more than five years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force\, including Southeast Asia\, and later retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force Reserve. A Rochester native\, she earned her B.S. from RIT and her doctorate from Oregon State University. \nThe War That Never Ended” shines a light on the 80 million (80\,000\,000) unexploded ordnance (UXO) left behind in Laos after the Vietnam War ended in 1975. These bombs remain just as lethal today as when they were dropped\, continuing to kill and injure innocent civilians—most tragically\, children. In partnership with MAG (The Mines Advisory Group)\, an international nonprofit dedicated to clearing war-torn countries of UXO\, the No More UXO in Laos Project was launched in 2023. This program explores how these deadly remnants got there\, the dangerous but vital work of the deminers who remove them\, and the life-saving impact of the project’s successes. \n  \nTo provide our venue with an accurate count\, we ask that you please sign up if you are planning on attending this luncheon. SUMMARY:Tuesday Luncheon Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center to hear from guest speaker J.C. Argetsinger\, President of the International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen. \nHow Motor Racing made Watkins Glen World Famous \nAs recently as the aftermath of WWII Watkins Glen was chiefly known as a little upstate village on a lovely lake with a beautiful gorge.  Within ten years the name Watkins Glen became nationally famous and within the following decade became widely known internationally.  This all occurred because of the dream and organizing skills of a young pre-law student\, Cameron R. Argetsinger.  The growth of the road racing led to the creation of the International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC)\, a thriving library and archive dedicated to motorsport spearheaded by Jean Argetsinger\, wife of Cameron\, in 1998 to commemorate fifty years of road racing at Watkins Glen. \n  \nUse the form below to register:
