SUMMARY:Tuesday Luncheon Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center for a 9/11 Program from speaker Rick Kettell. \n  \nRichard Kettell—Senior Air Traffic Control Manager\, Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center (Cleveland  ARTCC) \nOn September 11\, 2001\, Rick Kettell was the senior FAA official in charge of Cleveland ARTCC\, the busiest air traffic control facility in the world. When news of multiple hijackings reached him\, Kettell established a command post at the facility and led the FAA’s response to the terrorist attack in the skies of US Airspace. He witnessed first hand the flight path and altitude changes of Flight 93 and shared radio messages mistakenly broadcasted by the hijackers. He gave the order at Cleveland Center to shutdown the airspace\, one never practiced or planned for.  Kettell has since retired from the FAA\, but remains active in teaching managers at the FAA Learning and Leadership Institute \n  \nRegister with the form below:

SUMMARY:Tuesday Luncheon Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Carlson to hear from guest speaker Rochester Rotarian\, Angelica Pilato. \nDr. Angelica Pilato\, “Angel”\, served more than five years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force\, including Southeast Asia\, and later retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force Reserve. A Rochester native\, she earned her B.S. from RIT and her doctorate from Oregon State University. \nThe War That Never Ended” shines a light on the 80 million (80\,000\,000) unexploded ordnance (UXO) left behind in Laos after the Vietnam War ended in 1975. These bombs remain just as lethal today as when they were dropped\, continuing to kill and injure innocent civilians—most tragically\, children. In partnership with MAG (The Mines Advisory Group)\, an international nonprofit dedicated to clearing war-torn countries of UXO\, the No More UXO in Laos Project was launched in 2023. This program explores how these deadly remnants got there\, the dangerous but vital work of the deminers who remove them\, and the life-saving impact of the project’s successes. \n  \nTo provide our venue with an accurate count\, we ask that you please sign up if you are planning on attending this luncheon. You will not get charged if you are no longer able to attend.
